How They Met - A With Time Story
Author’s Note: I got asked by @periwinklepost-its how the Quantics met, and I couldn't resist. I threw this together, and here we are! There's reference slides here, and yes, I am now being bombarded with ads for children's clothes.
Summary: Allan, Allegra, Claude, and Felix are all six when they meet.
Oh, and there's a dinosaur. He doesn't talk much though.
“Hi!!”
Felix looks up, seeing a brown haired boy standing in front of him, a sparkly star shaped hair clip stuck to his head seemingly randomly. There’s a stuffed black fabric rectangle hanging from his neck, with the image of a camera printed on it in white. He has a funny looking dinosaur on his shirt, with spikes on its back. The same spikes are on the boy’s shorts.
Dinosaurs are cool.
“Hello?”
People don’t normally talk to Felix. The six year old tends to sit apart during recess and just read while the other children run around. It’s too much excitement, and he’d rather read his cat books.
“I really like your tie! They’re cats, but they’re in space!!”
Felix blushes a little, not used to other kids complimenting his clothing. Most of them think it’s weird that he’s dressed so formally. He looks down at his tie and easily removes it, holding it out. “You may look at it. Cats are my favorite animal.”
The boy smiles, nodding and holding the tie carefully and sitting down on the bench beside him. Felix appreciates that he seems to understand that he should be gentle with things that don’t belong to him.
“Do you like space?” The other boy asks. “Do you think there are cats in space? Do you think there’s a cat planet? Do you think cats are from space?”
“I don’t know. I don’t think so?” Felix shrugs. “I am no space expert.” He looks at the clip in the boy’s hair. “I like your star.”
The boy touches the star. “Yeah! My friend is letting me borrow it! It’s really pretty, and she said I could wear it until we have to go home.”
“That is nice. Where-”
“Claauuddeeee!!” A girl’s voice calls, “This isn’t how tag works!” She harrumphs, crossing her arms. She notices Felix, then his book, and she brightens, tag forgotten. “You have a book? What’s it about?”
She has a purple play dress on, leggings underneath it. Her hair is tied back in two braids, and she has a headband on with a large purple bow. On the side of her head and near the back she’s slipped several different colored sparkly star hair clips, though one is missing.
“A cat. He finds aliens. There aren't a lot of words though.”
“Aliens?! That’s cool!” The boy exclaims, still holding the tie.
The girl notices it. “Where’d you get that?”
“Oh! This is his! You can have it back now!” The boy holds it out, and Felix puts it back on his shirt.
“I like your astronaut cats. My name’s Allegra!”
“I am Felix. I like cats.”
“I like purple!”
“I like… a lot of things!” The boy decides. “Oh, and my name is Claude!”
“Do you want to come with us? We were going to look for four leaf clovers over there,” Allegra offers.
“My brother says they’re not real!” Claude pouts. “I gotta’ prove him wrong!”
Felix considers this. He has already finished his book, and it would be very interesting to find a four leaf clover.
“Okay.”
It doesn't take long for the ‘walk’ to turn into a race for Allegra and Claude. Felix walks at a normal pace, because he doesn’t want to trip.
He passes the swings, spotting a boy in a gray hoodie holding a dinosaur sitting on one of the swings. Felix remembers seeing him around school before, usually hanging back and sticking to the sidelines.
Felix walks over.
“Hello. I like your dinosaur.”
The boy looks up, startled. “Th-thanks. His name is Lucas.”
“That is a very good name.”
The boy smiles.
“My friend has a dinosaur on his shirt. Do you want to meet him?”
“Yeah!”
“Follow me. We are looking for four leaf clovers over there. I am Felix, the dinosaur shirt boy is Claude, and the purple girl is Allegra.” He gestures to where Claude and Allegra are already sitting on the ground a little ways away.
“I know Ally! She gave me a star yesterday.”
“Really? Then I suppose she will be happy to see you again.”
“I hope so. Mama says she hopes I’ll ‘find my people’. I think she wants me to make a friend that isn't a dinosaur.”
“We can be friends.”
He smiles brightly, “Really?! Thanks!”
“Dinosaurs are a very good judge of people. Clearly, Lucas approves of you.”
“Do you want to hold him? He is a very nice dino.”
Felix nods. “Would you like to look at my book while I hold him? It is mostly pictures. It’s about aliens and cats.”
“That’s super cool!!”
They trade, sitting down beside the other children, who look up from their search.
“Hi Allan!”
“Ooh, do you like dinosaurs too??” Claude bounces where he sits in the grass.
Allan nods. “But Lucas is my favorite. Felix is holding him right now, but you can hold him later.”
“Okay!!”
Allegra holds out two star clips.
“My friends get stars. At least until I go home. Mommy wants me to bring them back home.”
Allan puts it in his hair, and Felix looks at it consideringly. He isn’t sure how it works. It’s completely closed! How does it stay on someone’s head? The snapping sound from when Allan put his on is concerning too.
“I do not wish to break it…” Felix admits. “How does it work?”
Allegra crawls over to him. “Here. I’ll help.” She takes it from him, then moves some of his hair slightly before putting it in his hair easily. “It’s a barrette. You have to make it click.”
“You gotta’ click it to stick it! ...in your hair!” Claude declares.
“I like your rhyme.” Allan smiles shyly.
Claude gasps, taking his camera and holding it up to his face and pretending to take a picture of Allan. “I like your smile!!!”
He blushes. “Th-thanks.”
Allegra pokes Claude’s face. “Don’t make my all-buddy uncomfortable.”
“What?”
“Both of our names start with A-l-l. That’s how we became friends.”
“It’s fine, Ally,” Allan reassures, then turns to Claude. “Your camera is cool!”
“Thanks! It can take a picture of anything! Even the things that normal cameras can’t. Like when you’re playing pretend and want a picture!”
“That’s cool!”
“Yeah, I even used it to prove there was a monster under my bed!”
Allegra gasps. “Really? No one ever gets a picture of them!”
Felix nods in agreement. It’s very true. They’re very elusive.
Allan stares at him in shock. “Do you mean you d-defeated the monster under your bed? You said ‘was’...”
“My parents got me anti-monster spray. Maybe they can show your parents where to get some!!” Claude offers.
“That is fascinating. An invention like that should be famous.” Felix marvels.
“Yeah!”
Felix hands Allan Lucas. “I believe recess is going to be over soon. It was nice to meet all of you.”
Claude hugs all of them enthusiastically, he stands backing up a bit, gesturing for them to get closer. “I’m going to get a picture! Stay still!”
Once the picture is taken, Claude pats Lucas’ head before running off to be first in line to get back inside. “Bye guys!! I’ll see you later!!”
Allegra takes off after him, not about to lose a potential race.
“They're nice,” Allan comments.
Felix nods as they make their way back to the school. “They have a lot of energy though.”
Allan gives the most long suffering sigh a six year old has ever given. “We’ll have to make sure they don’t hurt themselves.”
“Oh my. You’re right.”
“Mhm.”
“I suppose this is our life now? Are we not rather young to have found our career?”
“Maybe.” Allan shrugs, hugging the green dinosaur to his chest slightly.
Felix hums, then sticks his hand out. “I look forward to working with you.”
Allan smiles, and shakes his hand.
“Me too.”
---
Author’s Note: Allan has already accepted these guys will be giving him gray hairs. He is very wise.
Once again, reference slides here. I tried to stick with their usual color scheme, but Allan got a gray hoodie (it has little bear ears though), because all the green ones were either a) boring, or b) too similar to... something else I have planned. You'll just have to wait on that! 😉
For some reason, I fell in love with Lucas the dinosaur. Don't ask me how, he's just really cute okay?? I'll probably find an excuse to reference him sometime.
Thank you for reading!! 💕💕💕 Any sort of love is much appreciated!! 💝💝

The Road to Us 24
Book 3 - Til the End of Time - Chapter 12 - I Promise
Peta woke up the morning of the wedding, the same way she'd woken up for the last few weeks, needing to pee. She mentally groaned and rolled out of the bed and then remembered what the day was. It was her wedding day. Her wedding day to the love of her life. She had never been so excited and yet so nervous at the same time. She shook herself and headed to the bathroom. She did her business and headed back to the bed to wait for the others to wake up. She felt Ella and Joe begin moving around and smiled. She snuggled back under the covers and reached for her phone. She already had a text from Maks and she felt herself get giddy as she opened it up.
"Good morning pretty girl, I hope you slept good and are as excited about today as I am. Tonight I'll be able to call you Mrs. Chmerkovskiy officially and the thought makes me shiver in excitement. I love you sweetheart. Tell Ella and Joe, Papa said good morning. I'll talk to you soon. Xoxo." Peta felt tears well up in her eyes at his sweetness and took a moment before responding.
"Good morning handsome, I can't say I slept as well as when you're next to me but I did cuddle up with Shar. I can't wait to hear the words "You may now kiss the bride" because that will make all of this official. Even though you were stuck with me forever from the beginning, it's something else to know it's now officially forever. Ella and Joe say kick kick kick. Love you baby xoxo." She sighed in happiness and snuggled down into her pillow.
"You're already crying?" Sharna said sleepily as she flipped and looked at her friend.
"He's sweet. And I'm hormonal. Blame your niece and nephew." Peta giggled.
"Well, be ready to cry more. I have a surprise." Sharna said winking.
"Seriously?" Peta said looking at her friend who smiled in happiness. She got out of her bag and went over and pulled out a small long box.
"Here babe." Sharna said as she handed it to Peta.
"I can't believe him." Peta said as she opened the box. There was a note on top which she opened first.
"Pretty girl, I felt like today should be a day full of memories of us. So I wanted to find a way to do this for you. This gives me the oppurtunity to do this without being there with you and leaves room for us to add to it. Love you babe, always. xoxo Maks." The note read. She opened the box and found a charm bracelet with a single charm on it. It was a fire charm with a tiny note that said 'How we met.' She immediately knew it was to represent them meeting on Burn the Floor. Her eyes welled up with tears as she held the bracelet in her hand before passing it to Sharna to put on her wrist. She just looked at it for a moment.
"Text him." Sharna said as she wrapped her arm around her friend as she handed her her phone. She snapped a picture of the bracelet on her wrist before sending him a text as well.
"You never cease to amaze me handsome. I love you, I love you, I love you. Thank you. xoxoxo" She said as she sent the text. Rumer and Nicole woke up around then and sat up to join the party.
"Did you two start without us?" Rumer teased.
"Nope, Shar was just helping Maks be Maks." Peta said holding her wrist out to show the girls. They all ooohed and ahhed over the bracelet before Sharna decided they needed to get a move on with the breakfast train. They ordered from the room service menu and all had a picnic on their beds before they got ready to head over to the salon that would be doing them up for the day. Sharna snuck Maks's next present into Peta's hands before they pulled out from the hotel. It was a charm of NYC with a note that said, the city that pulled us together. She shook her head in happiness and added the charm to the bracelet. They pulled into the salon and all got out. Alayna and her mother were there to meet them.
"Miss Peta! Miss Peta! It's flower girl day! I'm so excited!" She said as she threw her arms around Peta's legs.
"I'm so excited too! Are you ready to get all prettied up?" Peta asked as she leaned down to hug the little girl.
"I am! Mommy said we get to get my nails, hair, and make up done is that true?"
"We do! And then we're going to go back and put our pretty dresses on before the wedding and then there will dancing and cake after!"
"Oh my goodness! Best day ever! Can I dance with you and Mr. Maks one time please?"
"Of course sweet heart. You can definitely dance with us. Thank you for being our flower girl!" Peta said.
"Mommy says to say thank you for asking me. But I say thank you bunches!" She said as she hugged her again tight.
"Well I say you're welcome bunches." Peta said pressing a kiss to the little girl's head before standing up and taking her hand. They all headed in and they were each taken to stations to get their nails done. They all did french tips with some purple accents. Alayna got hers purple withe silver sparkle tips and she was clearly excited. Sharna had her come see her and sent her to Peta with her next surprise.
"Miss Peta, Miss Sharna said this is from Mr. Maks." Alayna bounced beside her chair.
"Why thank you miss. Wanna help me open it?" Peta asked and helped Alayna get situated in her lap before they opened the box.
"It's an ice cream cone!" Alayna said once they got the box open. 'In memory of our first time together on our path back to each other,' the note read.
"It is." Peta said as they got the charm on the bracelet.
"It's pretty. I like it Miss Peta." Alayna said as she flipped through the charms that were on Peta's wrist already.
"I love it." Peta said hugging the little girl. They all switched to chairs to get their hair done. Peta's was pulled into a controlled gorgeous mess of curls, braids, and twists that all gathered at the back of her neck. Alayna's was gathered on the side of her head and pulled over her shoulder in a cascade of curls, it was braided back down the side and little rose like pins of hair accented the back. The bridesmaids had a tiny accent braid down both sides with their hair pulled back into a knot by the nape of their neck with some accent curls. They all then were taken into make up and done up then. After they finished they all headed over to Saddlebrook. They all went to the bridal suit so the could finish getting ready.
By this point Peta had added 4 more charms to her bracelet, a cubed with all the suits on it from the night that they played the card game waiting on Baba, a ship to commemorate the night Maks promised this would happen, a whale for their whale watching trip in Australia, and a charm in the shape of Australia for where they got engaged. Each piece held a precious memory and Peta treasured each in their own special way.
"Alright, before we change and get dressed we have some gifts for you." Rumer said as all the girls lined up, even Alayna.
"Every bride needs something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue. So we've each gotten you one thing to represent that." Nicole added.
"I had something blue and I cheated kind of because I got you your garter." Rumer said presenting her the first present.
"I had something borrowed, this was Nan's. She carried it in her wedding and wanted me to carry it in mine. It was her good luck charm. And you're my best friend, you're my sister so I think Nan would want it to be with you." Sharna said as she showed Peta a tiny handkerchief that she could wrap in her bouquet.
"Shar, are you sure?" Peta asked as her eyes filled with tears at the gesture.
"Positive. Don't cry!" She nodded and teased before stepping back allowing Nicole to move forward.
"I have something old, and I had some help from Baba. This was hers, she wore it in her wedding and wanted Maks's wife to have it for hers." Nicole said as she clasped a tiny simple pearl necklace around Peta's neck. Peta fingered it as smiled softly.
"I had something new, and we gotted you a pretty barrette for your hairs." Alayna said as she stepped forward with a silver pearl barrette for Peta to add to her hair.
"Thank you. All of you, each of these mean so much to me. I can't even begin to explain. And not only do the objects mean something to me but so do the people that gave them to me. I wanted each of you here with me today because you've all meant something to me, in life, and through this journey. Whether you've been here from the beginning or just joined us in the middle, you've each played a role in this for me. And I love you all for it." Peta said pausing every so often to keep herself from crying. All the girls moved forward to hug her tightly. They all switched to get ready and dressed for the ceremony as the mothers came in the room.
"Oh baby." Suzanne said as she got a good look at her daughter in her gown.
"Mum." Peta said softly as she smiled at her mother. Sharna stood next to her trying to keep her from crying at least until they got to the ceremony.
"You look beautiful baby. Just glowing." She said as she came and hugged her daughter. "I'm so proud of you sweetheart. I love you so so so much."
"I love you too." Peta said just letting her mother hold her for a few minutes. They eventually pulled apart and Larisa was given the chance to love up her soon to be daughter in law. They were then taken for pictures and everything before the ceremony. The final picture was a special one that Sharna had set up. Peta stood on one side of a wall while Maks was on the other. They both held their hands straight out and were able to hold hands for a moment while the picture was snapped. Maks leaned his head back on the wall as his eyes fell closed.
"I love you." He said just loud enough for her to hear before their hands separated.
"I love you too." She said as she squeezed his hand one last time before they were taken back to their own rooms before the ceremony started. Barry had appeared in the bridal suite and met Peta when she came back.
"Baby." He said as his eyes immediately filled with tears.
"Daddy, don't cry, you'll make me cry." Peta said as they hugged.
"I'm sorry baby, you just, I'm so proud of you and you look so beautiful." He said as he held her.
"I love you, thank you for coming." She whispered holding him.
"I love you too. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else." He said into her ear before kissing her cheek.
"I don't want to ruin this moment but it's time babe." Sharna said as she stood in the doorway watching her friend and her father.
"You ready?" Barry asked.
"Definitely." Peta said smiling and looped her arm through her fathers. The trio walked over to the doors and Sharna spread her train out so that it laid smooth.
"Last one." She said opening her hand and showing her a charm of calla lilies and slipped it on her bracelet.
"I love you." She said standing up and kissing her cheek before taking her spot in line.
"I love you too." Peta said smiling. She could hear the music start and Rumer, Teddy, Beau headed out and up the aisle. Nicole, Alex, and Sam were next and then Sharna and Val. Finally it was Alayna and Brayden's turn. And then Barry and Peta got into position as the march started.
"I got you." Barry whispered as he felt her grip his hand slightly tighter. She nodded and smiled at him before the doors opened. They moved her into the archway and Peta got her first glimpse at Maks and her eyes filled with tears. He was in his dark suit with his hair styled perfectly. His face was a pure picture of excitement, joy, and love and suddenly Peta could feel her heart in her throat as her nerves and excitement rose to the top.
Maks felt his breath catch in his throat as she came into his view. Her dress was beautiful, long and flowing yet simple and elegant and it showed off the twin's bump beautifully. Her hair was pulled back and left him a perfect view of her face that was simply the one thing he couldn't take his eyes off of. He could see all the love that he felt for her being reflected right back to him as she moved gracefully up the aisle with her father. It seemed like an eternity before she got to him and he moved down to accept her.
"Who gives this woman to this man?" The officiant said.
"Her mother and I do." Barry said before leaning in to kiss Peta's cheek before handing her hands to Maks. "Take care of her."
"I will sir." Maks said as he felt his body fill with a new energy yet calm at the same time as he was able to finally touch her. Sharna moved forward and took the bouquet from Peta's hand so she could what she needed.
"You're crying." She said reaching up to brush a stray tear off his cheek.
"You're my dream come true." He said squeezing her hands tightly. He wanted so bad to move forward and kiss her.
"And you're mine." She said winking and squeezing back before they both realized they needed to let the officiant move forward.
"Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to bring Peta Jane Murgatroyd & Maksim Aleksandrovich Chmerkovskiy together in holy matrimony." And then it began, they had a few things planned as well as some traditions. There was some verses & poems read, a candle lighting ceremony, and the sand pouring before it was time for the vows. The two had chosen to do their own thing at this point and it was time. Maks went first after Peta's insistence at the rehearsal due to her nerves.
"Peta Jane, when I first met you, I knew there was something special about you. At the time I didn't realize that you'd one day become my soulmate and my forever but I knew that you'd be in my life for years to come. The longer we had together the more I knew what was meant to be and that it would find a way even if we had some rocky times in the middle. Those times have brought us to here and have given me something to love, cherish and hold close to my heart. I promise to love you, always and forever, no matter if we're in the middle of a fight or if we're in the middle of a celebration. I promise to take care of you at all times, when you're sick, when you're sad, or when you just need love. I promise to stand by you, up for you, and with you at all times, no matter the circumstances. I promise to make you smile when you're sad, calm when you're angry, and safe when you're scared. And I'm so glad that you've allowed me to make all these promises to you because I love you and would be lost with out you." He said as his voice wavered in the middle especially when he saw tears begin to slip down her cheeks. When he finished he reached out and wiped her tears away. She took a moment to compose herself before beginning her turn.
"When I was little I used to play wedding with my dolls. I'd dress them up and parade them down the aisle and have them get married and have a happily ever after. At that time, marriage was simple to me. Two people fell in love and they got married and they were a family. The older I grew the more I realized that something like that wasn't as simple, it took work and it took time and it took a lot of tears and sweat. Then I met you, and it wasn't so hard. It just made sense. I felt safe with you, I felt loved with you, and I felt precious and suddenly I knew that it was that simple. You just needed to find the right one. When I close my eyes and see any moment in my life, whether it's happy, sad, scary, or boring, it's you that's standing there next to me. And I want you to be there next to me forever. And I want to be the one who is next to you forever. I promise to be there when you need distracting from scary situations with a deck of cards and a hand to hold. I promise to be there to curl up with you when you need whether it's because you're sick, tired, sad, or just needing to be. I promise to take care of you when you need because you take care of me so much that you let yourself slide. I promise to stay with you through the ups and downs, the happy and sads, and the goods and bads. I promise to love you each and every day more so than the last. And i promise to make sure I make you laugh each and every day because you make me smile simply by just being with me. I'll love you now and forever Maksim Aleksandrovich, for as long as I'm breathing, I will be yours." He was so captivated by her words that he almost leaned forward and kissed her but she stopped him making the whole assembly laugh at the moment. He smiled sheepishly and mouthed I love you to her. She mouthed it back before releasing his hand to brush another tear from his cheek.
"Can I have the rings please?" Brayden and Alayna moved up next to Sharna & Val who handed them their respective rings so they could hand them to the officiant. They both placed them on the book before heading back to stand in the line and watch the rest of the ceremony.
"Maks?" The officiant motioned to the rings so he could take his.
"Peta, with this ring, I marry you, with my loving heart, with my willing body, and with my eternal soul." He said as he slipped the ring on her finger. It was Peta's turn to take Maks's ring.
"Maks, with this ring, I marry you, with my loving heart, with my willing body, and with my eternal soul." She said as her shaky fingers slid the ring on his. They both turned and looked at the officiant knowing what was next.
"By the power vested in me by the state of California, I now pronounce you husband and wife, Maksim you may now kiss your bride." Maks had his arms around Peta as fast as he could as he held her to him and melted their lips together.
"I love you, so so so much." She said between kisses. They stopped and resting their heads together before sharing one last kiss.
"I now present to you Mr. & Mrs. Chmerkovskiy." He said as the assembly erupted in cheers. The two headed out the walkway and to the area under the willow trees that was slightly reserved for them to have a moment. As soon as they were back there Peta crushed her body to Maks's and melted their lips together as she began to cry again, good tears though as did he. They both couldn't believe they were there and finally husband and wife. They eventually had to part for pictures, congratulations, and many other things. They never lost hold of each other though, they always kept something touching the other whether it was a simple lean, a hold of the hand or an embrace. Finally they got through dinner, cake and it was time for their first dance. Peta had left the music up to Maks and wanted him to surprise her. Her eyes lit up as she heard the beginning strains of Little Big Town's Sober pour out through the speakers as Maks pulled her close pressing a kiss to her lips before tucking her into him.
I wanna walk that line a little crooked And live my life a little on the rocks Laugh at every time my fell Not afraid to make a fool of myself And keep on dancing when the music stops 'Cause I love being in love It's the best kind of drug Drunk on the high, leanin' on your shoulder Sweeter like a wine as it gets older When I die I don't wanna go sober Oh, when I die, I don't wanna go sober
"You remembered." She said as she pulled back to look at him.
"Of course I did." He said kissing her again leaving his forehead rest on hers. Months ago he had caught her listening to Little Big Town and got her to admit her love for the country band. She mentioned this song being one of her favorites as well as a few others. And when she gave him the job of choosing the song he knew that he wanted to choose something of theirs.
"I love you." She said blinking back another round of tears.
"I love you too Mrs. Chmerkovskiy." He said gaining another huge grin out of her before pressing another kiss to her lips. They spent the rest of the night celebrating and enjoying the company and time with family and friends. As promised they dance with Alayna and Brayden each separately and then as a big group. They danced slow, fast, and choreographed and everyone had a great time.
Finally it was time for them to have some alone time. They headed back to the hotel where they had a suite to themselves for the next few days and they loved each other slowly and gently before wrapping themselves in each other in the bed.
"I have one last surprise." Maks whispered as he felt her begin to nod off.
"Another one?" She asked in sleepy amazement.
"Yup, here." He said handing her a tiny satchel that held 3 more charms. She pulled them out slowly, the first was 2 rings nestled on a pillow with their wedding date on the bottom, the next was a heart with a tiny hand print and a spot for a birthstone, Ella Rose was written on the other side, the third was another heart with the same hand print and spot for a birthstone, Joseph Adam was written on the flip side of that heart.
"Maks." She gasped as she held them each and admired them.
"Do you like them?"
"I love them. All of them, each and every one of them. They each remind me of each and every moment and why I love you."
"I love you Peta Jane Chmerkovskiy." He said leaning down to kiss her again. She moved her mouth up to meet his before moving the satchel to the nightstand table before their emotions took over and they made love once more before both falling asleep for the first time as husband and wife.
**The end. Literally for this one. I hope you guys enjoyed it and loved the wedding. Let me know what you thought and don't forget to like it up! I'll be starting the final piece of this series in a few weeks as we follow them on the final journey with the pregnancy and the birth of the twins. Thank you all for you love and support and for always reading and being there. Xo
